Like he expects her to hit him. it’s THAT kind of flinch. He covers his face and avoids eye contact like a child. But she’s experienced abuse and she understands that he isn’t normal and that he probably isn’t used to being treated in a loving way…and she KNOW that he hates himself and that he secretly thinks that people think he is stupid and weak and so she encourages him before she leaves him alone with his thoughts

Exposure and disease. Starvation. A lot of them just disappeared. So the elders, they said a prayer, asked for a sign to uplift the mothers’ spirits. Give them strength. Hope. The next day this rose started to grow right where the mothers’ tears fell. I’m not fool enough to think there’s any flowers blooming for my brother, but I believe this one? Bloomed for your little girl.
